Precision, Accuracy and Timing are Key to a Successful Claim Block
Once an area of interest has been identified the next step is to determine if the ground is open to staking. The involves determining if the property is open to staking and determining whether or not if it has already been staked. Our team will search County Records, BLM records and make a site visit if needed to ensure there aren't already claim posts on the ground.
A Notice of Location and/or a Certificate of Location is required to be posted on a claim corner or on a discovery monument, depending on the State. Notice are signed and photographed and then inserted into a metal cannister which is attached to a claim post.
Claim maps are an important part of the claim staking process. The BLM requires a claim map when filing new claims. The claims stakers in the field use the maps to find corners and establish access. Each corner corresponds with a gps waypoint insuring accuracy and position.
Once a map has been created a gpx file is created with the coordinates of each claim corner. The GPX files is loaded into a gps device so the claims staker can place location and corner monuments with precision and accuracy.
The first step is staking the claim on the ground is to post a Notice of Location on the ground in complaince with the laws of the State where it is being staked. We place the notices in a water tight cansister that is attached to a cliam post.
Once the Notice of Location has been posted. Posts are placed on each corner of the claim identifying the claim name and corner number. The claims is now completed and the Notice of Location can now be recorded with the County Recorder and filed with the BLM.
